SCHEDULE for the 9th Annual DOJoe Memorial Uphill/Downhill Race
DATE: Sunday February 28, 2010 at Eldora Mountain Resort
REGISTRATION AND FEES:
8 - 10 AM in the Corona Bowl Bar upstairs in the Old Lodge
Tag team - $35 per 2 person team
Individuals - $30 per person
Registration fee includes goodies, 2 beer tickets, 1 raffle ticket
Discounted lift tickets will also be available for $21 to non- Eldora pass holders.
DIVISIONS AND STARTING TIMES:
Tag Teams at 12 Noon
Women at 1 PM
Men at 1:10 PM
AWARDS CEREMONY AFTER RACE PARTY:
4 to 7 PM at Corono Bowl Bar after the race featuring prizes, music (The Luv Brothers), discounted fajita bar ($10 for participants and $12 for non-participants) and beer ($2 until the kegs run out) from the Upslope Brewing Company for all participants. Prizes are given for the best costume, the fastest female and male contestants, and the fastest tag team.
RACE RULES:
Telemark skiers, AT skiers and snowboarders are invited to compete in the DOJoe. All skis on the mountain must have metal edges. Participants provide their own skins to climb to the Lookout, and must finish the race with all their original equipment. Permanent markers will be available at registration to initial your skins, which will be collected by volunteers and dropped off at the party area in the Lodge by 4 PM. (See the Race Course page.)
From the Lookout participants proceed to the downhill portion of the event, West Ridge run, which is a double black diamond trail (know your own abilities). The finish zone will be at the base of West Ridge and will be a Norwegian style finish with a U-turn, slowing racers down and around to the finish line. Participants must have their bib number on and visible. Tag Teams will consist of two racers, one person for the uphill and the other for the downhill.
Spectators may view the race at any point but are reminded to stay clear of the course.
